-- press release
Blondie will capture you and trap your musical taste buds with their sixth album "The Hunter."
Mike Chapman has once again targeted Blondie's musical expertise and combined their diversified style into a captivating, cohesive package.
"The Hunter" was recorded at New York City's The Hit Factory Studios during January and February of 1982. All the band members took part in composing original tracks for this LP with the exception of the last number on side two, "The Hunter Gets Captures By The Game", a 60's classic by Smokey Robinson.
"The Hunter" is Blondie's first concept album based on the theme of searching, hunting, or pursuing one's own Mt. Everest. Often enough in the race to win (while following the trail of the prey; stepping too close to the trap);
"The Hunter gets lost in the jungle
His back is toward his feet
The heart's a mighty hunter
But the hunted must keep up the beat."
"Island Of Lost Souls", the first single release from "Hunter", is a calypso oriented tune destined to follow in the footsteps of a precious number one hit, "The Tide Is High." Tropical fantasy and summer time make this single perfect for vacation 1982 and provide a distinct contrast with "War Child", an up-tempo lament, which is a commentary on modern times and current events. That's only two of the cuts you'll be hearing via radio.
