Blondie kicked off their UK/Ireland tour in Hatfield last Wednesday. The setlist includes some brand-new songs including “D-Day”, “What I Heard”, “Love Doesn’t Frighten Me At All”, “Mother In The Night”, “The End, The End”, a cover of Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart” and many more surprises, as well as some of their greatest hits.

New Zealand tour

According to stuff.co.nz Blondie will be heading to New Zealand in December for three shows with the Pretenders. The two bands will perform at the Vector Arena in Auckland on December 16, the Alana Estate in Martinborough on December 18 and the Mud House Winery in Waipara on December 19. Tickets go on sale on June 15. A ticket link will be posted shortly.

Blondie will be honored at the ‘8th Annual TV Land Awards’ that will be held on Saturday, April 17th, 2010 at the Sony Studios Culver City. The band will receive the Icon Award for its contributions to music and pop culture through their long and successful career in the music industry.
In addition to receiving the Icon Award, the band will be performing one of their classic hits. The TV Land Awards premieres on Sunday, April 25th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Woodstock Day School benefit

Radio Woodstock is hosting a benefit concert for the Woodstock Day School. The show at the Bearsville Theater on May 28 will feature members of Blondie (Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, Matt Katz-Bohen), as well as Tracey Bonham, Happy Traum, Jerry Marotta, David Van Tieghem, Alex Belmont, Peter Dougan and The Woodstock Day School Rock Ensemble .
Tickets are $40 for standing-room and lounge, $50 for reserved seating and $100 for golden circle seating (first five rows, plus VIP reception and champagne).
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through www.wdst.com. Woodstock-based WDST (100.1 FM) VIP members can purchase their tickets on Friday already.

New Blondie album info (so far)

No real news but a little summary of what we already know about the new Blondie album (updated on May 22).

  • will be released in the fall (around September)
  • Blondie worked with The Killers’ producer Jeff Saltzman
  • mixed by Mark Needham
  • artwork (painting) by Dutch artist Chris Berens
  • various guest artists
  • will contain around 15 tracks (probably less)
  • 3-4 cover songs
  • 1 song in French, 2 in Spanish
  • most of the English lyrics written by Debbie
  • sounds like Blondie/different styles/rock, a little “on the dark side”
  • the title of the album is “Panic Of Girls”
  • four song titles have been announced: “D-Day”, “What I Heard” , “End Of The World” & “Le Bleu à l’âme”
